Is The United States Helping Al Qaeda?

We are reading reports that Al Qaeda fighters are joining forces with Libyan rebels. At the same time, the United States is assisting the rebels against Gaddafi. So while this is certainly a complex issue, it would appear that Al Qaeda is fighting on the same side as the United States. If Gaddafi is bad and the rebels are good, why is Al Qaeda helping the rebels and what are they hoping to gain if we are all successful at overthrowing Gaddafi?

Over the last few days, Arkansas has experience a significant number of minor earthquakes that have rattled residents and left scientists questioning why they were happening. Shortly thereafter, we hear of a massive earthquake and tsunami causing havoc in Japan. Could the earthquakes in Arkansas have been a warning from Mother Earth? Furthermore, could the millions of fish dying around the world for no apparent reason be related to the earthquakes?
